A downloadable game for Windows

'Maybe Later' is glorified depression simulator an interactive story about a programmer struggling with getting their tasks done due to that pesky inner critic... or outer critic, in this case. It doesn't help that the tasks keep getting bigger -- in a rather literal sense.

This game was made for the GMTK 2024 Game Jam, where the theme was Built to Scale. My first thought upon hearing this theme was the software term of something being 'built to scale,' as in building software in such a way that it can handle large workloads, most commonly large volumes of users. I guess following that line of logic, my game isn't so much about being built to scale as it is about not being built to scale, represented by literal scale. Scalecepetion.

I had a lot of fun making this, and hope you enjoy (:!

NOTE: This game gets rather serious in tone. If seeing other people struggle with their mental health is something you'd rather avoid, I'd recommend checking out any of the other fantastic GMTK 2024 jam games.

Thanks to my sister (Instagram @ms_octno) for some voice acting, and shoutout to the @Damimp YouTube channel for coming in clutch when I was troubleshooting the dialogue system.

BEST PLAYED WITH HEADPHONE

v18 has a few spelling mistakes I didn't catch until 10 minutes before the deadline.

v19 has fixed those spelling mistakes, but it has not been play-tested as vigorously.  I can't imagine it would cause any glitches, but just in case, I've uploaded both versions.

PostJamQuickDialogueOverhaul is exactly what it says on the tin. A super quick little dialogue update to fix some of the writing I was the least happy with. I might make a proper Post-Jam update, but this is just a small patch to fix the part of the game I liked the least (:

Simply download the zip, extract it, and play the .exe file (:!

v19 should work, but if it won't launch v18 guaranteed works. (difference in bottom of description.)
